Setup the Device
To start using Datalogic WorkDesk, the device must have the Desktop Mode property configured for "Dual Screen". This can be done on the device using the Settings app (under Datalogic Settings), or with OEMConfig using Scan2Deploy or an EMM.
Once the Desktop Mode has been set correctly, WorkDesk can be started by inserting the device into the Smart Dock. After a few seconds, the external display will show the desktop and is ready for use.
Main Features
The display contents are similar to that of a desktop PC. The upper left area contains shortcuts to frequently used apps, and the bottom of the screen displays a taskbar containing the Apps Button (for launching apps) and device status indicators. Additional details on all these features are found under Features.
Configuration
The list of shortcuts and the overall appearance of the desktop and taskbar can be configured. To access the WorkDesk configuration, click on the Apps button () to see the Apps menu, then click on "WorkDesk Settings" at the bottom of the menu.
Access to the settings may be protected by an administrator password. In this case, configuration is only possible once access has been unlocked. The correct password must be entered before the settings can be accessed.
While unlocked, an indicator () appears in the lower right corner of the taskbar to indicate the unlocked state. Clicking on this status indicator returns to locked access. More information on WorkDesk configuration can be found in WorkDesk Settings.
